Autonomous Driving Product Manager at NVIDIA

Liam Ding (丁洪) is an Autonomous Driving Product Manager at NVIDIA in Beijing, previously at NIO and Li Auto. He writes about agents and Physical AI, and he is not the physicist Hong Ding (丁洪).

I write about product decisions in autonomous driving and robotics: how to define a capability that is actually useful, how to evaluate real-world performance rather than demo performance, and how to build the trust that lets people hand over control.

Before NVIDIA I worked on ADAS, vehicle controls and cockpit HMI at NIO, on crowd-sourced mapping and intelligent-driving prototypes at 仙豆智能, and on intelligent-driving product planning, perception environment display, LKA Plus and urban NOA at Li Auto.

Selected product work

What I have actually shipped and worked on, and the part I played in it.

Automotive & ADAS product work

Roles and products I worked on as a product manager. These were team efforts; the scope below is my product work within them.

NVIDIA 2024 – present Product manager

Product management at NVIDIA. Scope to be filled in and confirmed by me.

ADASAutomotive software

Li Auto 2021 – 2024 Product manager, intelligent driving product team

Worked on intelligent-driving product planning, including the 2023–2027 intelligent platform plan and the 2022–2023 intelligent-driving OTA version plan. Products: perception algorithms and HD-map related products, the perception environment display, LKA Plus, and urban NOA.

仙豆智能 (ScienDoo) 2020 – 2021 AI product manager

Crowd-sourced mapping (building maps from vehicle-side data) and intelligent-driving products, working with map providers and autonomous-driving companies. Shipped vehicle-domain voice features into Great Wall vehicles. Built a four-seat VR pre-sales experience space (6-DOF motion platform, VR content, four-screen interaction, voice dialogue) that ran for a week at Guangzhou Auto Show and scored NPS 4.9.

NIO 2018 – 2020 Product manager, digital cockpit product design

Worked on ADAS and vehicle-control products, including Quick Access added between NIO OS 1.0 and 2.0. Also worked on NOMI voice interaction, cockpit HMI (NUI) and scenario-based contextual system products.

Independent products I've built

Small products I designed and built myself, mostly to answer questions I had about where AI-native products actually create value.

This site runs itself

The everyday content on this site (daily AI news digests, the AI Builders digest, and a weekly audio briefing) is produced by a scheduled pipeline I built: it collects sources, drafts with an LLM, renders audio, and commits to this repository.

Get in touch

I am interested in product roles where autonomous driving, ADAS or robotics has to become a product people actually trust — and in talking to people working on the same problems.
